The President of Turkmenistan, Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, is currently dismantling the personality cult of former president Saparmurat Niyazov. Although Western analysts remain sceptical of the new regime, I hope the citizens of Turkmenistan will be able to breath a little bit more freely now.
